A: I work all over the UK, from Scotland to Portsmouth, and I see these kids with their powerful cars everyday (I work nights). If the truth be told, they are either too old and should know better, or too young and need adult guidance. Yep, another powerful car is just what we need. Carry on the good work, fool.

Q: When new redesigned Subaru Forester will be available? As which model year?
If you own Subaru Forester what is your opinion on reliability and 4 wheel drive capability? Thanks.

A: Don't know about a redesign. Just had a facelift this year. The reliability is and all wheel drive is AA+ as in all Subaru vehicles.

Q: How do I replace the head gasket on my '98 Subaru Forester?
I got an estimate from the local Subaru dealership.... $3120.00. We didn't pay much more than that for the car! Anyone know how to fix this (or know any alternatives) or would you suggest pushing it off a cliff?

A: First, you need to figure out what caused the problem in the first place, because just replacing parts won't prevent the problem from returning later. Do you know which of the two heads is the problem?? Buy a Haynes manual and get busy!!! There is probably a lot of room under the hood of your Forester to work with. Start with a good shampooing of the engine compartment at a do-it-yourself car wash. Has your engine ever been overheated?? Usually an overheat will cause a head gasket to go bad because of a faulty fan switch or temp sensor. There is a product at most of the large chain auto parts stores that can reseal a leaking head gasket without removing the head. You should be using only Subaru anti-freeze in this car, as the regular "green" stuff used in most American cars is too caustic to aluminum parts and may be the cause of your leaking head gasket. I've seen Japanese heads that look like Swiss cheese because the owner used improper coolant. I wouldn't change the head gasket unless you were totally sure that nothing else would help, but you can do it yourself if you are determined enough. A Subaru properly maintained should last for 250,000 miles or more, with proper attention. Good Luck!!!

Q: What is in the Subaru Forester all weather package?
I was on Subaru.com and one of the available options is the all weather package, but there are no specifications.

A: Earmuffs and a scarf.

Q: Where is the wheel jack in a Subaru Forester?
Im trying to change a wheel. Ive looked all round the car and can not find it anywhere! Please help. Much appreciated!

A: did you look down where the spare tire is?, what about the fender well?

Q: Anyone have/had a Subaru Forester? What are your opinions on it?
My husband and I have a Mitsubishi Galant right now and we are wanting to trade in for a bigger car- we're looking at the 09 Forester. I was wondering if anyone would share your positive/negative experiences with it/ or if you would reccommend something different. Thanks in advance!

A: I don't have a Forester but do have my third Impreza and they share a lot of parts. The motor and drive train in the new Forester is very proven and has been used since about 98 so they have really spent a lot of time perfecting it. Subaru also has one of the best AWD systems on the market that will put most other small AWD vehicles to shame. Being AWD, it suffers a little in the mileage department but I get mare than they said I would so it's not bad. I really think you will be happy with a Forester. In the end, you are the one driving it so I would go out and test drive one. It's free and that's the only way to know if it's right for you.

Q: What are the average labor hours for replacing a Subaru Forester head gasket?
How is this determined? I would assume that the mechanic shops/dealerships would go by the same book to give estimates. Is this correct?

A: it is determine by a group of specialists. they determine how long the job takes. once they agree, all labor times are the same in the book or computer. this will cut down guessing cost. the average headgaskets for Suburu is 10.2 hours

Q: How much weight can my Subaru Forester handle?
In the back trunk because i need to load it with heavy landscaping stones which weigh about 80 pounds each.

A: just go by how much it drops in the back, if it were me i would load it up a fair way, i wouldn't go over 600lbs though, just even out where you put them if you ca, put some in the back seat/on the rear floor, if you can to try and level the car a bit. the higher the front goes the lighter the steering will be so take that into consideration. i live in aus so i am trying to work out the diff, the most we have had in our car, (ford falcon 1996) is about 600kg or 1320lbs (in the boot and backseat) and with that weight you could tell it was heavy. (as you would expect any family car to do!)

Q: How many seats does a subaru forester have?
I am looking for a 6 or more seater car...pref under 12k...can anyone offer ideas?

A: 5 you can get a used for 12k or maybe a Suzuki but they suck

Q: I am trying to backflush my '98 Subaru Forester... Anyone know where the heater inlet hose is hiding?
I might add that I am an automotive idiot, and any help would be greatly appreciated. Honestly, pretty much all of the hoses look the same to me, and I would hate to mess up the car. Thanks for any help at all!

A: should be on the firewall, good luck!

Q: What is the best used car between Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Subaru Forester to drive and stay in Alaska?
My wife and I plan to move to Alaska and we wondering what would be the best car to drive (from Arkansas) and stay a year in Alaska. We plan to buy a used car around year 2000 with about 80000-100000 miles considering that our budget is between $6000 and $8000. Please keep in mind that I am 6'6 and need some leg room for the long ride. Thank you very much for your help.

A: my overall ratings Honda CR-V 89% Toyota RAV4, 82% Subaru Forester 78%

Q: How do I access the turn and hazard module on a 1999 subaru forester?
the repair shop said they have to take apart the dashboard to get to it. Just wondering if there is anyone here that was able to easily access it because I know they will charge hours of labor just to change a simpe module. And who knows how much they will charge for the module itself?!?

A: The labor rate on the module in question is only .4 hrs. If they are trying to say it is going to take much longer than that, then they are trying to rip you off. One more thing to keep in mind in the future. Just because something seems to be a minor thing to replace does not always mean that it is. Some car makers bury things in the stupidest locations and it is not the shops fault that they have to charge you so much. However this time that is not the case. Hope this helps.

Q: What would YOU drive: Honda Fit, Subaru Forester, or Scion xD?
I am about to buy my first new car. I never look at new cars, so i don't really know what's out there right now, but these ones are appealing. I need lots of room for a dog and band equipment. I want decent factory stereo with iPod connection. I would like it to have a high green score. What do you think I should get?

A: If fuel mileage is really important, then the FIT. For the space, safety, and the best AWD system on the market, the Forester. Nothing would make me choose the Scion over the other two. It's heavy, weak and boring looking.

Q: The inside mirror of my Subaru Forester has a discoloration (partial)the dimm is gone),What to do?
the shape of that discoloration is changing constantly.

A: replace it

Q: which is the best between subaru forester and the outback?
i`ve seen other comments regarding my question but im concerned in the height from the ground between them and as well as which would be better at offroad with a little more details...appreciate your help...thx

A: Of course your decision will have to be based off which you like driving better. But here are some pros and cons: OUTBACK - - Higher performance options than forester in both horses and torque, and thus marginally more robust off road - Tougher suspension for off road use - More comfortable, although slightly cramped interior - AWD FORESTER - - More interior commodities - Better gas mileage For your off road needs, i believe the Outback is the best choice. Although the higher performance models are more expensive than the Forester.
